More Info

Adopt your truffle trees, experience a day in the life of a truffle farmer, wine and dine, and keep in touch with your tree pals through the year. Then, receive the first truffle from the tree next season. How It Works From August through October, you will be able to visit our beautiful property, nestled among pristine rainforest gullies on the slopes of Gulaga Mountain, with its rich volcanic soil, to experience a day in the life of a truffle farmer. How does spending two hours among our 260 oak and hazelnut trees, learning how to care for them sound? From pruning, to weeding, to making Spanish Wells, you will be able to roll up your sleeves and really get down to the business end of truffle farming. In between trees, while enjoying an elegant glass of sparkling pinot, you will hear the story of our truffiere, the history of the mysterious truffle, and be shown how truffle dogs are trained. With an appetite from all this activity, lunch will be just up the mountain in our off-grid, rammed earth home, regularly featured in the Annual Sustainable House Day, and we think you will love it as much as we do. Enjoy spectacular views down the valley as you sit out on the deck, listening to the lyrebirds call out through the rainforest. If the weather is inclement, then you will be inside in the cathedral-like space of the house, warmed beautifully by our iconic, wood-fired masonry heater. Lunch will be a degustation of truffle inspired dishes. We are proud not only of our truffles but also of the fresh, regional produce, including wine, that we source to complement them. Provenance is important and you will taste the terroir in every, delicious bite. We hate saying goodbye, so have come up with a way that we don’t have to. When you leave us after lunch, we will stay in contact. With each season, we will send you photos of your adopted trees, (usually 3-6 of them, depending on how fast you were pruning) and a report, letting you know how they are getting on. Penpals are lovely but Treepals are even better! To complete your truffiere experience, when the next truffle hunting season begins, we will freight to you the first truffle that your little tree family produces. This could be anything from a delicious little 30g truffle right through to a 500g whopper. Spring in the Truffiere is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Book from our set date or book by appointment.
